Welcome to episode 268 of Grasp the Bible. In this episode, Pastor Drew continues our study through Nehemiah. Today we will cover:
· Nehemiah 5 — A Great Cry, A Great Anger, A Great Offense, A Great Restoration, and A Great Distinction.
· “Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.”
· A Great Difference between the Greedy and the Generous.
Key Takeaways:
· The people faced a great cry as their fields, vineyards, and children were taken as payment.
· Nehemiah confronted the nobles and officials for their great offense against their brothers and against God.
· A Great Restoration required returning what had been taken and keeping their promise.
· Nehemiah's generosity and fear of God made a great distinction between the greedy and the generous.
Quotable:
· “Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.”
· “Being in God’s good graces was more important than receiving things he could rightfully demand.”
· “A GREAT DIFFERENCE — between the Greedy and the Generous.”
Application:
· See the Big Picture — see what God is trying to do.
· Care how you treat others and take on others' burdens.
· Persevere and fear God rather than prioritizing yourself.
· Ask yourself: “Where is your treasure?”
