PINE RIDGE - Back in May, the tribal council approved a Commission for the Tiwahe Initiative that included Danielle Her Many Horses, Allison Morrisette, Stacy Ecoffey, Aimee Pond and Dr. Linda Herzberg. The root words of Tiwahe provide the foundation for the Initiative. Tiwahe means “family” in the Lakota Language. 'Ti' means house or dwelling, 'Wa' means sacred or pure, like a person’s breath, and 'He' means something that is close.
