I have been a Believer for over 40 years. I have talked to thousands of Christians and hundreds of pastors in those 40 years, and I find very few in the Church who are really 'desperate' for the Truths of God's written Word intended for His Church.
Over the years I've heard Believers who profess to be desperate for God's love, share beautiful worship songs, with no real serious intent on keeping the promises that they sing (to the Lord) in those songs.
Over the years I have attended numerous Bible 'studies'; but sadly, I can count on one hand the number of men who were leading these studies who knew their Scriptures. I've seen or heard the testimonies of hundreds of Believers who go to the altar and pledge their undying love and devotion for their savior...who stay at the same spiritual level year after year after year.
Over the years I have honestly and openly (out of biblical love) shared biblical Truths with genuinely sincere but misled pastors (who claimed to love the Word of God but who were teaching doctrines that were clearly not biblical and/or clearly not for the Church age.) I did that hoping that they would 'set aside' their emotional denominational beliefs, and/or 'set aside' the false teachings of their church 'buddies'...and choose instead to follow the Truths of God's written Word. None have ever gotten back to me.
Brethren, IF you claim to be 'desperate' for the Lord...and yet are not desperate for the Truths of His written Word, you are deceiving yourself. James 1:22 ---- But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
If you sing beautiful worship songs to God because you are 'desperate' for His love...and yet either don't know or are not faithful to the commandments for the Church that are found in the Scriptures...you are giving the Lord 'lip service' worship.
Matthew 15:8-9 ---- “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. ’
And finally, if you're a shepherd who claims to love the Lord and the Word of God with all your heart and soul...and yet avoid teaching the sound doctrines of God's Word that the sheep so desperately need...you're both a coward...and a false teacher.
Jeremiah 12:10 ---- “Many shepherds have ruined My vineyard, They have trampled down My field; They have made My pleasant field a desolate wilderness.
Church, every born-again Believer is commanded to worship the Lord thru their spirit using the Truths of God's written Word. No matter how desperate you claim to be for the Lord...you can only 'reach Him' IF you seek Him thru the spirit using the Truths of His written Word.
