Nicole sits down with inventor and vocalist David Ask to explore why grit and resilience are not personality traits but outcomes of clear values and a grounded identity. We connect creativity, confidence, and mental health to one practical question: what are you bouncing back to when life hits hard?
• David’s path from music in Nashville to inventing a thermostat guard sold in major retailers
• How grit works as traction for long goals
• Why resilience requires a defined “shape” to return to
• Values as the foundation for decisions, boundaries, and confidence
• Authenticity as aligning with how you are wired rather than performing for approval
• Anxiety and people-pleasing as signals of unclear identity anchors
• Why values matter more when you know you are valued
• Parenting and leadership through validation and naming strengths
• Final tip on revealing the “riches” in other people
