The story of Samson is more than a story about a man who lost his strength and power with the snip of his long, flowing locks. It’s a story about a man who God gifted with so much potential but who blew it with a series of bad choices that led to losing his physical strength and diplomatic influence. Ultimately, he lost his vision – first figuratively, then literally. But the story doesn’t end there. We can learn some essential takeaways from Samson’s story. First, the power God gives us is intended to be used for His Kingdom. Second, God’s holy nature and our sinful nature don’t mix. But third, and most importantly, no matter how far away our sin carries us from God, it’s never too far for us to return to Him. There’s never been anyone who has gone so far outside God’s bounds that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross can’t bring them back into God’s presence.
