Postpartum Depression was not recognized in the Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders until 1994.

Since the 16th century, mental health has had a long and dark history. Women have been at the forefront of experimentation, isolation, and even execution.

This history has created fear, shame, and a societal stigma around mental
health.

What has changed in the last few decades does not erase 1000’s
of years of mistreatment.

Today, I'm sharing with you all a clip from our Perinatal Mental Health Certificate training where we covered the history of mental health as it relates to women and postpartum.
