Genesis 9 begins with a familiar call from God to humanity "then God blessed Noah saying to them 'be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth (9:1). God makes promises to Noah on behalf of all humanity, that the earth will not be destroyed again. Once this is established, then God again calls Noah and his sons to a fruitful life on earth.
