What hinders our worship? It may take different forms, but essentially it all boils down to idolatry in our lives. We may not like to hear that, but it's true. If we dig even further, it becomes clear that we're worshiping ourselves. It may not look like the idols of the Old Testament, but it's idolatry nonetheless. It shouldn't surprise us. After all, that's what our ancestors, Adam and Eve, did way back in the Garden.
Our God is a jealous God because He passionately loves us, wants what is best for us, and wants us to know Him. He is the only source of true life and fulfillment. If we would cast down our idols and worship Him alone, we could experience the fullness of intimacy with our creator.
