Let me start by wishing you all very happy new year. In my estimation, 2025 seem to be becoming a little better towards the end of the year. In addition, it seems to me that the year 2026 will continue to be a better one for most of humanity. Of course, I am talking from the United States, and I realize that things, and life in general, is not good in some other parts of the world. All I can say to that is hang in there, do what you can to improve your situation, and please remember that the most important thing for us as humans is our relationship to God. I know, some of you will say, easy for you to say from your comfortable room in the USA. All I can say is that our relationship to God, especially that which we discover in the 12- step program, is separate from anything we may experience in life.

I can tell you that I have had some difficult times since I took the third step, and decided to turn my will and my life over to the care of God. Throughout all of those times I have managed to hold my relationship to God as the most important in my life. I realize that some of you face much more dire and critical life events and I have. The answer is still the same. Whether it may be bringing up children in the way that my Spirit directs me, or facing death itself by looking to that same Spirit for strength and protection, it is all one. The simple idea, no matter what our situation, is to put our relationship with God first.

Ultimately, this is what this 12-step program tells us. It tells us there is a power greater than ourselves, greater than anyone for that matter. It tells us we can decide to follow our humanity or our Spirit, our essence. It tells us we are forgiven, (mostly because there is nothing to forgive once we have said yes to God). It tells us we will do our best if we continue to be vigilant about the kinds of choices we are making. Finally, the 12- step program suggests that we constantly try to follow God’s direction, no matter what Sterk circumstances of life we may find ourselves in. Then as we are learning to turn our lives over to God’s direction, we try to help others to find the same peace and love that we have found as a result of this program.

This all may sound like a lot to some of you, but I imagine, to those of you who are well into this path, it sounds wonderful.

Once again, I hope you have all had wonderful holidays. If not, however, please just keep trying your best. If you have slipped away from the program, well, join the crowd! Many of us had multiple slips before we realized that the most important help for us is in the piece of our Spirit. I guarantee that if you keep asking for help, and keep trying, you will eventually be successful. For those of us who have found peace and love in our Spirit we must remember to look around and share our stands others. Love to all!
