As a reminder, these are the five procedures:
The Five Procedures
1. Give in toGod.
2. Listen to God’s direction.
3. Check guidance.
4. Restitution.
5. Sharing — for witness and confession.
This is episode three, and I will be speaking about procedure number two, Listen to God’s direction.
I see this procedure as being aligned with steps number three and eleven. As we take step three on as our own, and say that holy “yes”, I surrender to God, I am implying that by turning over my will and my life, I will be following the directions of God and my Spirit.
Step number 11 takes us even further as I seek to improve my conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for me.
So, in these two steps, I am telling God that I realize I cannot run my own life, that I know He can I will just get out of the way. Not only will I allow God to direct my life, but in step 11 I this by praying only for knowledge of His will for me!
In our 12 step program, this whole procedure is sort into a single, simple phrase, “I can’t handle it. God can. I believe I’ll let Him.”
