The Silent Epidemic: Law Enforcement Suicides

As of August 21, 2021, 89 U.S. law enforcement officers have died by suicide—a quiet epidemic. Today, we tackle a difficult topic: suicide among officers. Leslie, the surviving spouse of Thomas Forbes (EOW June 6, 2011, Groton City PD), shares her painful journey.

In 2020, the Survivors of Blue Suicide Foundation (SBS) was created to support those left behind. Laurie Putnam, SBS co-founder, joins us to discuss the foundation's mission and resources for survivors.

Leslie shares her love for her late husband and the shock of losing him. “We were living the dream,” she says. Yet, she never saw the signs of his struggle.

Listen as we raise awareness about the urgent crisis within law enforcement and support the SBS Foundation's work to help families like Leslie’s heal.
