An illiterate member of the Achekzai Pashtuns, Abdul Raziq rose through the ranks to become one of the most powerful, influential, and feared figures in Afghanistan. We discuss his rise to power, command style, and the allegations of human rights violations he incurred during his time as the Chief of Police. We also discuss his death and what that means for the security of Kandahar Province.
