Description

This week we are going to begin a new series at Hope. It's a series based on several of the events of David's life. Some of these accounts will be familiar to you, a couple of them, I think, may be completely new.

I'd like to give you an explanation for why we're covering David. it's certainly true that it's full of action and drama. (Just read the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:45-54. ) I suppose that's a reason to study David! It's also true that David's life is a story of sin and grace. A story of a man who was sometimes incredibly faithful to his God, and at times incredibly unfaithful. Another very worth reason to dive in!

However, the reason that we are going to get into David's life is not to look at David and his life. We're going to look at God and our lives. Through each account we'll see one thing repeated over and over. God is working in our lives. For our good- our physical good and much more importantly, our eternal good.

Yes, I invite you to come and see David this Sunday, the man from Bethlehem who stood up to Goliath in the place of the Israelite army. Much more, though, I invite you to come and see Jesus, the man from Bethlehem who stepped into our place and won the victory over death forever.
