Meli'sa Morgan is an R&B songstress that exploded on the music scene in the late '80s. Meli'sa Morgan came on the scene as a singer with a sultry yet powerful vocal style that could deliver a funky soul song like "Fool's Paradise" to get you on the dance floor, then sing a slow ballad like "Do Me Baby" to put you in a romantic mood. A voice that was perfect for R&B, soul, gospel, and jazz, Meli'sa Morgan is blessed with the gift of singing, having a sultry yet powerful vocal style and sound that brought the magic in her hit songs like "Do Me Baby," "Do You Still Love Me," "Fool's Paradise," "Now or Never," "If You Can Do It," "Love Changes (with Kashif)," "Back Together Again" (with Freddie Jackson), "Still in Love," and so many more!
Meli'sa Morgan grew up singing gospel music, but earlier in her teens her career led her to dance and soul music. At 16, Meli'sa Morgan recorded and is the voice on the hit #1 dance song "Keep in Touch Body to Body"!
Morgan honed her craft and experience from singing background on tours and in the studio with artists like Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Kashif, opening for Gladys Knight, and many more. Meli'sa learned about the music industry and sought knowledge about the business. Solidifying her writing and publishing rights was extremely important.
As a teenager, Meli'sa went to modeling school. Later on, she studied at Juilliard School of Music and took acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Acting School, while continuing to gain experience performing around New York City with top musicians. This gave her the knowledge and experience to produce and write most of the songs on all of her albums and CDs, something that most artists in the business didn't know about or didn’t want to do. Meli'sa Morgan continues to produce and write on all of her songs and CDs to this day.
Her latest single, "Footprints of an Angel," is setting the indie charts on fire, and it's likely to hit the Billboard charts shortly. It's a classic R&B song with the passion that only Meli'sa can deliver. We talk about this and more in this episode. Tune in!
