Episode 34. Rachel Walker is a singer/songwriter and performer originally from the Bronx, NY. Rachel has toured as a member of the legendary funk/soul group Sister Sledge while opening up for headliners Kool and The Gang in countries such as France, Scotland, The UK, Beirut, Morocco, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Rome, and Copenhagen, plus Philadelphia, PA for Pope Francis at The World Meeting of Families.
Rachel is no newcomer to the indie soul universe. Her first offering, 2009's "Walk With Me" was an indie soul gem. Her voice is passionate and soothing. Rae is an excellent songwriter and her lyrics are from the heart. The title song, as well as "Free," "My Life," and "Another Story" are stand outs.
Riding on the success of "Walk With Me" in 2010, Rachel release the single "Falling," which instantly became a fan favorite.
After taking a break from touring to regroup and get her creative juices flowing again, Rachel came back hard with her album "Ra[E]volution"! With new eyes, Rachel penned new songs like "Supawomen," "Lesson Learned," and "Come n Get Me". The later even had an firey remix that I just love!
Now all grown up, Rachel has found her calling in acoustic soul music. Her recent singles "Vampire" and "Say Something" mix, soul, R&B, and a little bit of country, into a beautiful acoustic soul gumbo! I love it!
Listen in on our conversation and hear Rachel discuss her story, struggles, loves, and, of course, her music.
