Description

On this epic episode number 10 (Woot woot!), I was able to have a very epic guest in the form of Colorado Springs spiritual songmaker and vocal angelic demigod Xanthe Alexis. Whether she’s guiding patients to recovery as a trauma therapist or transporting audiences to transcendence as an acclaimed indie artist, Xanthe Alexis has devoted her life to healing others, and her extraordinary new album, ‘The Offering’ (out 8/21/2020), is no exception. Recorded in Alexis’s adopted hometown of Colorado Springs, the record pairs soaring melodies with lush, hypnotic soundscapes as it grapples with anxiety and strength, worry and comfort, heartbreak and hope. Hinting at everything from Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten to Julien Baker and Feist, it’s a deeply compassionate, unflinchingly honesty collection, and one that finds Alexis baring her most vulnerable self in a timely and much-needed act of radical empathy and connection. NPR's KEXP Radio in Seattle ran a Q&A, calling out her “transcendent vocals" on the air. I was honoured to chat with this musical pal who I've never met in real life, and who has such an interesting view of all things musical, our connection with others and the earth, and motherhood. Have a listen and do your best to stay kind at all times.

My new album "Geographics" is releasing (on my Bandcamp page only) through late January into late February 2026, and every Monday and Friday of those months, I'll have a new song up for you to digest into your ear canals. You can preorder the digital, cd and vinyl versions of the album, (which helps me greatly) but I understand that cash is tight all over the map, so you can also order a five dollar Geographics sticker. 5 beans! This album is really special to me (as my friends Melissa Payne and Charles Austin played all over it) and I hope you'll come along for the supersonic ride. Follow me @gravencanada on all the socials, and check my website to see when I'm playing live in a town near you. Join Graventown today to support yours truly for only 8 clams a month.
