“Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?” This is Jefferson’s question and over two centuries later the answer is blatantly clear—no. If we do not acknowledge and honor God’s place in the founding and functioning of our republic, we are fools to expect our liberties and freedom to survive. We are acting like fools today.
