As Christians (and as a Christian nation) we have a responsibility to submit to authority. This includes government. However if government leaders—including congress and the president today as was the case with parliament and the king in the mid-late 1700’s—reject God’s commands we have no responsibility to follow them. In fact we have a responsibility to resist them, to fight against them.
