We're back in Marchion Ro's little slice of the galaxy, where he gets increasingly more dangerous as he tries to keep his control over his ministers while getting unwanted visits from his past. Ghirra struggles with her uncertain future in the Nihil, Boolan is running some mad scientist experiments on the Nameless, and Viess has delegated her job to Shryke, who is supposed to bring Boolan live Jedi to play with.
In the Nihil Occlusion Zone, Avar and Porter try to avoid Nihil detection while they pursue their own missions. Avar may have commandeered a Nihil ship, but she also might have underestimated their fleet of scav droids, putting her and her new copilot in a life threatening situation. Meanwhile, Porter is stuck on a planet with no way off for now. But that doesn't mean he can't get someone (or something) else off-planet. But General Viess in on her own revenge campaign to find her old nemesis; and she's not far behind him.
Outside the occlusion zone, Bell and Burry help the Republic aid planets affected by Nihil raids, and they get a much-needed reminder that rebellions are built on hope.
