Abraham had two sons. According to the text, Ishmael did not resemble his father, spiritually, at least. He did not receive God's covenant promises or possess his father's generous nature. Instead, his family “lived in hostility toward all their brothers” (25:18).
Isaac, on the other hand, was a carbon copy of his father - which was both good and bad. Like father, like son, for better or worse. Let’s notice the family resemblance between Isaac and his father, Abraham, learning some lessons along the way. Genesis 25-26
