We’re kicking off a new series through the Book of Acts called Upside Down. Turn on the news, spend a few minutes on Facebook or other social media platforms, or pay attention to what’s happening in the world around us. And it’s clear that this world is upside down. Wrong is right, truth is nonexistent, darkness is celebrated, and everyone has an opinion and isn’t afraid to tell you about it!
Spirituality is celebrated but not when your spirituality challenges the beliefs of someone else. Then…well…it’s intolerance. More and more everyday it’s becoming countercultural to be a follower of Jesus. But guess what? This isn’t new territory. And over the coming weeks we’re going to see how the early church in the Book of Acts was born in a time and a culture not too different then we live in now. And yet in the midst of a world and culture resistant to their message, they moved forward with boldness, courage, love, selflessness, and turned the world Upside Down. The question for us is, are we ready to do the same?
