After Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, a banquet was given in his honor. It seems appropriate to honor him in this way. The banquet was held in Bethany, where Lazarus had been raised from the dead. But there was a lot of drama in the room. Lazarus, who was raised from the dead, was there (remember he had been dead a full four days!), and there were people who traveled to Bethany who really just wanted to see Lazarus for themselves. And then there was Mary publicly expressing her love for Jesus, and at the same time, Judas, privately expressing his judgment about what Mary had done. John 12:1-19
