Love to hear from and know who is listening

When I was younger I used to go fishing frequently. I prided myself on my ability to cast my lure just about anywhere I wanted to. I didn't have a boat so I was fishing from the bank. If I wanted to fish the deep waters I could cast my lure all the way out to the middle and let it sink to the bottom. Sometimes I wanted to fish the shallow waters along the bank and with a nimble flick of the wrist I could place my lure just a few feet from the edge and slowly retrieve it. The coves were the most difficult place to fish because you had to concentrate so you could cast your lure around the trees and brush, but that was where the biggest fish usually were. 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 7 says, were are to cast all our cares or anxieties on God. However, I must admit that when it comes to my anxieties and the troubles of life I cast them on God kinda like I was fishing. I often overestimate my ability to solve my own problems and underestimate my inability, and like a fisherman I cast my problems out, but I don't fully trust God to solve them and I end up reeling them back in.

1 Peter 5: 6-7 ESV Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

To cast literally means to throw, to throw them away and not try to hang on to them. We should not hold onto our cares. Instead, we should throw them to our Father God who cares for us. He has big shoulders; He can handle our burdens. Cares refers to worries, difficulties and needs of this world. The New Living Translation says to “give all your worries and cares to God,” and the NIV says to “cast all your anxiety on him.” Everything that worries us or weighs us down is to be given to the God who cares deeply for us. These verses do not promise that God will remove the source of our anxiety, although He certainly can. Instead, the assurance is in knowing that He cares for us, which is why we can cast our cares on Him. God is trustworthy to handle our cares in the best way. God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We can trust that God is able and willing to deal with our cares.

Romans 8: 28 ESV And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

In Matthew chapter 11 verses 28 to 30, Jesus also invites people to cast their cares on Him: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Jesus calls us to come to Him and cast our cares or burdens on Him. When we do, the promise is that we will find rest for our souls. We can come to Him with any of our concerns in prayer, and, while the burden may still exist, our souls will find rest as we trust in Him to help us carry it and to sustain us through the trial. God does not want us to be weighed down by the difficulties and worries of this life. Instead, He cares for us and promises rest for all who come to Him. If you trust that God is in control and able to handle your concerns, cast all your cares on Him, quite fishing for trouble! Let your troubles go, don't reel them back in as if you can solve all your own problems. Cast them away! Don't look where your throwing your troubles! Take your eyes of the things of this world...... O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of
