Love to hear from and know who is listening
When did it become an accepted practice to wear your pajamas outside your home? I must admit my pajamas are really comfortable but I would never wear them in public. It amazes me when I go to the store, especially Wal-Mart, how many people I see wearing their pajamas. When it comes to the way you dress in public these days, the rules just seem to go out the window. People wear such wild and crazy outfits at Wal-mart there is even a website devoted to posting pictures of how people dress when shopping there. Every person has a different routine when it comes to getting dressed in the mornings. Like a lot of other men, my morning routine is pretty darn simple. I take my shower before I go to bed at night, so when I get up in the morning I shave, brush my teeth, comb my hair and get dressed. It takes me a grand total of about 15 minutes. My wife Joyce, on the other hand, her morning routine takes quite a bit longer and some of the things she does in the morning I am not even sure what it is she is doing. I just smile and tell her how beautiful she is!
Getting prepared for your day, no matter how long it takes, can be very important. When a police officer gets ready for the day he must put on his bullet proof vest, his uniform, his tactical gear, his weapon and his badge. Can you imagine the reaction you would have if an officer pulled you over and walked up to your car wearing his pajamas? Not only would he look very unprofessional it could even be dangerous to the officer if he was not properly dressed. It may only take you a few minutes each day to get psychically dressed but it takes a lifetime to get yourself spiritually dressed! So how do we get spiritually dressed?
Ephesians 6: 13-17 NIV Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then,... with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
What do you think are the most important words in these verses about the armor of God? Do you think maybe it is belt of truth? Maybe it is the breastplate of righteousness or the shield of faith or the helmet of salvation? No it must be the sword of the spirit which is the word of God because this is the only offensive piece of armor, the rest are defensive. What if I was to tell you that the most important words of these verses had nothing at all to do with the armor of God. What would you think then? Would you think I gone completely crazy, that my cheese had done slide of my cracker and fell on the floor? The two most important words in these verses are, “Put on!” Because if you leave the house in your pajamas and you don't put on the armor of God it will do you no good at all! Just like the police officer that doesn't put on his bullet proof vest, tactical gear, weapon, uniform and badge, your making yourself into an easy target for the devil if you don't even put on the armor of God!
Ephesians 6: 11-12 NIV Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
So don't forget to get yourself spiritually dressed before you leave your home every day!!!!
