Love to hear from and know who is listening
Most of the fairy tales I heard as a child followed a similar pattern, there was a hero, a victim who needed saved from the villain and the happily ever after ending. The fairy tale of Snow White and the 7 dwarfs is a perfect example of this story. In the beginning Snow White and her 7 little friends lived and idealistic life without a care in the world. However her step mother, the queen, was jealous of her because she was the most beautiful lady in the land. In a fit of jealousy the queen devises her wicked plan and presents a poison apple to Snow White. After seeing how beautiful and delicious the apple looks she takes a bite and then suffers the consequences of the curse on the apple. She falls into a deep sleep until true loves kiss.
I must say I find it very intriguing the similarities between the story of Snow White and the truth found in Genesis chapter 3 when Adam and Eve are tempted and eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Both stories have a villain, the evil queen and serpent. Both stories have a female victim, Snow White and the first woman Eve. Both stories also use a fruit that appears to be beautiful to the eyes and delicious in the moment. Finally after succumbing to the temptation both stories have an immediate consequences which will require true love to overcome. Snow White's true love must find her and kiss her to awaken her and God must send his only begotten son to die of the cross for our sins.
John 3:16 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Just like in fairy tale of Snow White, those who do not know Jesus Christ as their savior live without a care in the world. In many cases they have job's, homes, cars and other earthly possessions. They have friends and families that love them and all seems well in the world, until the Holy Spirit opens their eyes and their minds, many times through a catastrophe in life. The catastrophe causes them to cry out to God in search of answers. In search of their “Happily Ever After!” Unfortunately this world has been corrupted by sin and for those of us who place our faith in Jesus Christ the only true healing will come when Jesus calls us to our heavenly home. No matter what may happen to you in this life, if you have placed your faith in Jesus you can have the peace in knowing that in the midst of the most catastrophic and turbulent times in life God is still in control!
Job 13 15-16 NIV Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance...
This faith-filled statement challenges us as believers to strive for a similar trust and faith in the God during the trials of life. Job made this statement when he was in a terrible pain and suffering. He had lost all of his children, his wealth, and his health. His friends were of no help. His wife offered no support and was in fact telling him to give up! It is possible that Job may have felt as if his life was over and the only thing left to do was die. But, as Job says, even if God did “slay” him, he would still trust in Him. Job realizes his pain was not permanent. With God, there is a way of escape! The suffering of this life is temporary and will end for those who trust in the Lord. After this life, there is eternal life with God in heaven. By God’s grace, faith is all that is required to be made right with God.
Ephesians 2:8 NIV For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
