In my home I have a decorative sign that says: Faith is being sure of what we hope for and being certain of what we do not see! How does the world define faith. I think if you ask the average person what faith is they would say it is to believe in something you cant see, touch or even prove exist. It is just a gut feeling that something is real. According to the Oxford dictionary faith is: “A strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual anxiety rather than proof.” Websters dictionary has several definitions of faith. First, “allegiance to duty or a person, loyalty.” For example, they had lost faith in the company's president. Second, “a sincerity of intentions.” example, they acted in good faith. Third, “A belief and trust in and loyalty to God, belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion, a firm belief in something for which there is no proof.” Finally, “something that is believed with strong conviction, a system of religious beliefs.” The world may believe that as Christians we are putting are faith in the promises of the bible without any facts. That we are not making intelligent decisions. I am here to tell you that the opposite is true!!!
The Bible supports and confirms modern day science on an overwhelming number of subjects. The Biblical account of creation includes all known scientific elements: Time, Space, Matter, & Energy. These elements are reflected in the following descriptions: Time, “In the beginning”. Space, “God created the heaven.” Matter “and the earth.” Energy, “Then God said, let there be light.” The Bible also addresses the seasons and the clock-like precision of the heavenly bodies to measure time.
Genesis 1:14-16 NIV And God said, Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth. And it was so. God made two great lights the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
The Bible describes the earth as a being round, a sphere held in place by gravity. Job 26:7 says “He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.” Isaiah 40:22 “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.” The bible and science also agree about the basic facts of meteorology. The Bible accurately describes the hydro-logic cycle which includes: evaporation, condensation, precipitation.
Job 36: 27-28 NIV He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind.
Both The Bible and science agree that the blood carries the life and health of a living being. Leviticus 17:11 says “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life…because the life of every creature is its blood. The late scientist, Albert Einstein, believed that science without religion was lame, and religion without science was blind. I believe that it takes far more “faith” to believe in the evolutionary myth, than it does to believe in the existence of God. In fact, evolution is based entirely on faith, because no facts or proof have ever been found to support it! You can easily look around you, and observe how intelligently, planned and executed everything in nature is.Faith in the the inspired word of God and is not only intelligent, it is based on facts.
