Recognizing Happiness & Blessings

I personally believe that happiness is a choice. I believe that it is a choice you must make everyday. Happiness in my humble opinion, is a state of mind. If you choose to look for the silver lining in the cloud you will find it. It you choose to look for all the thunderclouds in the storms of life, then you will find them as well. However,... the difficult question I would like to ask you is: If you never have any storms in life, how then do you recognize the sunny days? If you never have any dark days in your life, how then do you learn to appreciate the bright days?

Most of the time, I like to think I’m pretty good at recognizing what makes me happy in life. But I sincerely believe that if you don't go through some tribulation in your life, you may not always recognize all the blessings God gives you every day! It can become easy to let these moments of happiness and blessings slip past you. There is a new song out by a group that goes by the name, “Cochren and Company.” The song is entitled “Graves.” The lyrics to this song really do a good job of illustrating the point I am trying to make. Here is the some of the song:

If there hadn't been the darkness, I would've never seen the light, I wouldn't long for the sunrise, if it wasn't for the night. If there hadn't been a Father who made a way when there was none, I'd still be an orphan, if it wasn't for His son.

If there hadn't been a grave, if there hadn't been a cross, my heart would still be buried, and my soul would still be lost, if there hadn't been a Savior, who died to make a way, I'd still be a dead man, if there hadn't been a grave.

If it wasn't for the breaking, I would never know the mend, I wouldn't know the sweetness of freedom, if I didn't know my sin, If there hadn't been forgiveness that covered all my shame, I'd still be a debtor, if He didn't take my place.

If there hadn't been a grave, if there hadn't been a cross, my heart would still be buried, and my soul would still be lost, If there hadn't been a Savior who died to make a way, I'd still be a dead man, if there hadn't been a grave.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Ephesians 5:20ESVGiving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

After great tribulation comes the blessings!!! One of the most difficult parts of the Christian life is the fact that becoming a disciple of Christ does not make us immune to life’s trials and tribulations. Trials develop godly character, and that enables us to rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Trials and tribulations come with both a purpose and a reward!

James 1: 2-4 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
