Love to hear from and know who is listening

All of us place our trust or faith in things everyday and most times we don't even realize it. Every Sunday morning, you find your favorite pew and you sit down. You didn't even think twice about sitting down, did you? You know what a church pew is and you know what it is supposed to do and so you trust that it is going to hold you up. So for the most part you sit down without a second thought. Sure maybe you have encountered a well worn lawn chair that the webbing looked frayed and you wondered, will this hold me up? Or maybe you sat on a chair that was on an uneven surface and it suddenly sifted to one side giving you a momentary scare that you might get dumped on your backside, but for the most part we don't worry about where we sit. Just imagine what it would be like if every time we sat down we had to examine the place we were going to sit, to check it for cracks, make sure it was solid in construction and to test the chair to see if it would hold us up. That would take forever, and it would be so awkward.

Hebrews 11:1 NIV Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Real faith requires action! A mere profession of faith proves nothing; only action can demonstrate if your faith is genuine. It is not enough to claim to have faith, we must live it. Our actions indicate who or what we have placed our faith in. Just saying you have faith is not enough, you have to do something. Without true faith, you are stuck at home on the couch. You will be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Opportunities exists every day and all around you, but if we don’t have the faith to follow the path that God reveals to you, you will never experience the presence and blessing of God. All my life I have loved racing, hot rods and classic cars, so here is an illustration of faith that really hits home for me. God can't steer a parked car! Driving a car takes a great deal of faith. First, you must start your car. Most people have no idea, especially with new complex computer control cars what makes them run. They simply have faith that when they turn that key or push that button on the dash, the car will start. Next you must demonstrate you faith by putting you car in gear and pressing down on the accelerator pedal. Do you really understand how the power of engine under the hood of your car is transferred to the wheels and motivates your down the road? Probably not you just have faith it will work. And let's not forget about the brakes on your car, trusting them to stop your 5 to 6 thousand pound car that is traveling at 70 miles per hour is a real testimony of placing your faith in something.

James 2: 14-17 ESV What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

We can say we have faith but if it doesn’t result in action, it is useless. We see that in some people’s lives all the time, all talk no action. They tell a good story but when it comes time to do something they don’t follow through. Many of us are simply selfish. We have the mentality that we have worked hard for what they have and we have earned every bit of it! When you truly place your faith in God and you believe that God will provide for all your needs, then you are free to give what you have to others. You show your faith by living without the fear of losing what you really do not possess. We should act with a faith that God is able to prov
