Love to hear from and know who is listening
For many years now we have been defining generations of people by giving a title to the characteristics of those that were born during that generation. A generation is defined as a group of people born in the same general time span who share similar life experiences, such as a big historical event, pastimes, heroes, and work experiences. They will have shared experiences such as circumstances and culture. Each generation has distinct attitudes, behaviors, expectations, habits and motivations.
“The Greatest Generation” refers to the generation in the United States that came of age during the Great Depression and later fought in World War II. Some of the personality traits of this generation are humility, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic and they are prudent savers. Other generations include: the Silent Generation those born from 1928–1945, the Baby Boomers born from 1946–1964, Generation X those born between 1965–1980, the Millennial's born from 1981–1995, Generation Z born between 1996–2010 and Generation Alpha born 2011 to present day. Some of the other notable generational characteristics include: the Baby boomers who are dedicated workers, who value visibility, Generation X'ers are independent and well-educated individuals, Millennial's, are collaborative and impact-oriented group, and Generation Z is an optimistic group that is strongly opposed to risk. However I would like to define a new group. If you believe that the bible is true, then we may well be living in the “Final Generation!”
Matthew 24:34 NIV Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
In Matthew 24 Jesus talks about the signs of the end times. He says that many will come in his name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Jesus also goes on to say that just like in the days of the flood, people will be eating, drinking, giving in marriage and being merry and the lost will know nothing of destruction that is to come. When the rapture of the church comes two men will be working in the field, one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill, one will be taken and the other will be left.
Jesus’ point in His statement, “this generation will not pass away until all these things take place,” is that the events of the end times will happen quickly. Once the signs of the end times begin to be observed, the end will be well on the way—the second coming and the judgment will occur within that “Final Generation.” The age of grace has continued for a very long time. But when the time for judgment finally arrives, things will be wrapped up posthaste! The day and the hour of Jesus return, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven know, only God knows. The Bible has a lot to say about the end times. Nearly every book of the Bible contains prophecy regarding the end times.
Matthew 24:42 NIV Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
You may well be a part of the “Final Generation” when the Trumpet sounds and it will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will be transformed.
