Love to hear from and know who is listening

In Proverbs, Solomon gives advice to parents. He tells them to “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NIV Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
The bible also tells us that all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in 2nd Timothy 3:16... Teaching children the truths of Scripture will make them wise for salvation, 2nd Timothy 3:15;... thoroughly equip them to do good works, 2nd Timothy 3:17;... prepare them to give an answer to everyone who asks them the reason for their hope, 1 Peter 3:15... As parents we must prepare our children to withstand the temptations of sin and the pressure of their peers. The world throws them an onslaught of temptations. I am so thankful that I had parents that took me to Sunday school and church every week when I was child. Because I did every evil detestable thing possible as a teenage boy. I realize that many people as adults claim they were terrible to their parents but I truly was!!!

When I was 16 years old the gas pedal on my car only new two positions, idle and full throttle. I would go out with my girlfriend on a Friday night and not come home until Saturday morning and I never let my parents know where I had been until they asked me the next morning. I used drugs and drank alcohol excessively. When I was a Junior in high school I attended the prom and I became so intoxicated and high, that I passed out. My friends got tired of hauling my unconscious body around so they put me in the passenger seat of my car, took me home, and left me in the driveway. When I didn't come in right away my father went out and carried my lifeless body into the house. I was so near death that he couldn't even find a pulse on me. My parents and the neighbors, Jim & Sherry Lerette, prayed over my lifeless body. I say all theses things not because I am proud of that I survived, actually just the opposite is true! I am embarrassed about how I behaved and I truly do not like repeating the story! All that being said though I am biblical proof that if train a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not turn from it! However this biblical promise is not a guarantee that if you live a Christian lifestyle and teach your children the truths of the bible and salvation, that they will turnout to be God fearing adults when they grow up. Just like you still have a free will and can choose to do the right thing or the wrong thing. What is a guarantee however is that if you do not teach your children good biblical morals the world will teach them just the opposite! Society is bent on indoctrinating young people with secular values such as: transgender-ism and same sex marriage just to name a couple. What in the world has happened to the us? What a dysfunctional mess we have become! The value that God placed on teaching our children the truth is clearly addressed by Moses who stressed to his people the importance of teaching their children about the Lord and His commands.

Deuteronomy 6:7-9 NIV Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

Sadly, people these days are choosing to redefine the meaning of morality in order to justify their self-indulgent, behaviors and lifestyles. As parents we have been given the privilege of being stewards of our children’s lives for a very short time, the teaching and training we provide them is of eternal value!
