In the book of 1 Kings we see a continual turn over Kings and leaders throughout the nations of Israel and Judah, ultimately leading to a civil war. So many Kings who had a vision, a sense of calling and a belief that God was on their side. It’s the same thing we see throughout the rest of human history, this belief that God is on our side, therefore God cannot be anyone else’s side. But is that actually how God relates to us? Is God really playing sides and favorites? Or is there another way, a Kingdom calling that God invites us into?
