And why this is important to your wedding day images. A newbie wedding photographer may not be doing all these things (and your wedding day images are going to suffer). These are skills and knowledge that are developed over time. There is a phenomenon called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. It’s where people (or wedding photographers) with limited knowledge or competence greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence. Some call them “know-it-alls,” but in the Dunning-Kruger Effect, they’re referred to as being on Mount Stupid.
In this episode, I discuss everything I’m observing while looking through my viewfinder to make each image. Someone who is on Mount Stupid may not be observing all this superfluous information thereby making images that are less interesting and less appealing to your eye.
