Important correction. in the poddie, I said how I asked Stephen Sheldrake to explain the MTR selection and got no reply. Well - he did get back after we had just published the bloody thing. So, here's his answer - unedited for clarity.
"Hey sunshine……normal procedure with selection for MTR teams: Selectors select 6 athletes to compete at Hamburg- They race the Individual race-the coaches on ground confirm everyone ok to race next day (no injuries, sick, etc)-selectors meet and obviously consider the individual results and then select team. I’m guessing they took into account Andreas individual result v the other girls."
