A few hundred years ago it became popular among some theologians to say that the doctrine of the Trinity might be true, but it’s not useful, and so whether or not a person believes that there is one God in three Persons really doesn’t matter that much. Today, we’re going to being to grasp why the doctrine important for us to believe, not just for the sake of right teaching—although that is reason enough—but also because of its great use to us.
