Description

 Am I my brother’s keeper?
What does it mean to be your brother’s keeper?
What are God’s expectations to be a brother’s keeper?
Who is my brother? Romans 15:4

First - Genesis 3:15; 4:1-9
3 New Testament texts give us insight to understanding Cain and his failure.
The first is Hebrews 11:4; Romans 10:17; they were told what to do – Ethiopian Eunuch
Hebrews 9:22; Genesis 3:21: Abel obeyed the word ; Cain refused - fabricated Genesis 4:7
To do what is right – means to submit to the authority of God, not your own.
Galatians 1:6-8; Cain knew the right but chose the wrong, followed his emotions.

2nd New Testament text is 1 John - To be his brother’s keeper, all Cain had to do was obey the Word of God; Matthew 5:21,22; 43-48; John 13:34; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:22-24; 4:7; 5:2-3

3rd text is Jude 1:10-11; - Vs.14-15; blatantly disregarding obeying God’s word is to bring condemnation upon you.

Who is my brother? Mark 3:33-35
Jesus tells Peter how to love the brethren, great advice for all of us John 21:15-17
Feed the lambs, shepherd the sheep, feed the sheep. 1 Timothy 4;16; 2 Timothy 2:15
Is this why Jesus commands us Matthew 28:19-20; disciples – Acts 11:26

What does God expect from me? 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12; Matthew 5:13-16; Shine where you're planted.

Lesson from Cain – not knowing and not obeying God’s Word kills souls.
Ignorance of God’s word, spiritually kills yourself, spiritually kills your brother, and spiritually kills those you come to influence, the lost.
To be a brother’s keeper, is to be the Christian you need to be, Matthew 7:3-5

Am I my brother's keeper? I believe we are.
