Major problem - Mr. Fix It! I feel I have to fix people’s problems but as my wife teaches me, I just need to listen, she doesn’t want me to give her an answer, she just needs to vent and find her own solution, people need to fix their own problems, they just need to talk it out.
I love Bob Dylan’s song entitled - Everything is Broken. Romans 8:18-22; 3:23; Didn’t Jesus come to take away sin? No. He came to pay the price Romans 6:23; Acts 20:28; Is it our job then, to eliminate sin No! Jesus showed you can’t take sin away; Jesus came to empower us with the ability to fight sin by giving us forgiveness and His word.
But we have to do something, we could have Peaceful Marches, they might help, Yes they have the Suffrage movement took 100 years across the world, won just after WW1 1919 Britain, Canada, Australia. Civil rights movement with MLK 1948 – 1968 legal, non-violent protests, broke the entrenched system of racial segregation in the South and achieved crucial equal-rights legislation. These latest protests started peacefully, but were illegal, and ended violently.
They have a great reason to protest, ‘police brutality and racism’, so can we join in? It has to be legal, MLK Mark 12:17; Romans 13:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:1-3; 1 Peter 2:13-17; we can’t break law. Some claim Jesus was violent and broke law, John 2:14-17; Matthew 21:12-15
What does Jesus teach us to do, to sinners who are against us, Mt.5:38-42; People have different definitions & concepts for words, which make understanding very hard.
Woke - a perceived awareness of issues concerning social justice and racial justice. Only when someone dies do people get agitated, what about the plight of inner-city youth throughout the country struggling with pathetic school systems, single parent families etc. Being woke is for YOU to focus on solving issues for the future of the children. True wokeness I believe happens when you get baptized – Jn.9:39-41; Ro.9:1-5
What am I doing to get the Truth out to friends and loved ones, you can’t fix the world but you can try to empower others to fix themselves. Christianity didn’t start slavery but it helped change laws to end slavery, Christianity didn’t start segregation but it helped create laws to end segregation. We can’t eliminate sin, hatred, but we can help educate people to the horrors that exist because of sin, so they make laws to reduce its free reign.
White privilege - how can anyone be jealous of white privilege, who wants to work for a racist boss or company. Most countries have this – South Africa, Asia, Japan, Muslim etc. Christian privilege – 1 Peter 2:9-10; Ephesians 1:5; Titus 2:11-14; Colossians 3:9-13
There are only two groups of people in the world, God’s people and the Lost souls. In fact when you are added to God’s family, you become color blind. God is! No partiality there are no black members, white members, yellow or brown members we know and believe in Genesis 1:27; We are family, brothers and sisters, Galatians 3:27-29; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:1-3; Galatians 2:11-14
The church is like an AAA meeting, we’re all suffering from the same affliction - sin our job is to help one another Galatians 6:1-2
