Names are important to God – giving us deeper insights - you shall call his name:
Isaac – he laughed Genesis 17:19; John – Luke 1:13; Jehovah has been gracious
Jesus – Jehovah is salvation; Matthew 1:21

Abram (exalted father) to Abraham (father of multitude)
Saul (demanding) to Paul (little, humbled)
Sarai (dominant) to Sarah (princess)
Simon (hearing) to Peter (little rock [in ears])
Jacob (supplanter) to Israel (he who wrestles with God)
Joseph (may God add) to Barnabas (son of encouragement)

Hebrews was written to Jews who were struggling in their faith in the 60’s Matthew 24:9-14 Reminding them of their calling and spiritual blessings. We need this same reminder today.
