John 14 - Jesus the Encourager – Speaks in a direct way John 3:12-13
John 14:1; YOU trust in God, trust also in Me
Vs. 2-4 – “I GO” this fact must generate great fear!
Vs.5 – Where are you GOING? How do we now the way?
Vs.6 I am the Way – to the presence of God – John 1:29; Hebrews 10:19-22; 12:22f
The Truth – makes us free – John 8:31-32; 17:17; 1:1,14,17
The Life – fellowship with God – John 3:16; 6:33; 10:28; 1 John 5:13; 1 John 1:3
The Way – John 14:7-14; (Faith) Knowledge to the presence of God Ecclesiastes 3:11
Vs. 7 from now on you know Him – Vs. 21 – disclose Myself to you.
Vs. 9 If you have seen Me you have seen the Father, (Seen – perceive) Hebrews 1:3
Vs. 10 I am in the Father and the Father is in Me, I speak His Words Matthew 12:28,32
Vs. 11 I am in the Father and the Father is in Me, believe His works (miracles)
Vs.12 Believe in Me (as you believe in God) you will do greater works Water to wine, Lame, Blind, Dead, you can do these things, John 5:25
Vs.13-14 Ask in My Name that will I do – (by the authority of) Matthew 6:9f Hebrews 12:24
What are we asking for? Insight to His word, James 1:4
Jesus and the Father are one, you have to come to the Father through the Son.
The Truth – John 14:15-24 (Hope) Makes us free -
Vs. 15 Love (John 21:15 share) keep - obey, comm. Knowledge – John 14:21 Faith, Hope, Love
Vs. 16 another Helper to be with you forever. Matthew 28:20
Vs. 17 the Spirit of Truth – but you know Him – He abides with you Vs. 25
Vs. 18 And will come to you – Acts 2:38
Vs. 19 I am in the Father, you in Me Galatians 3:27; and I in you Romans 8:9-11
Vs. 21 Disclose – manifest – goosebumps – John 16:13-15
Vs. 22-23 Faith, hope, love
Vs. 24 – doesn’t love doesn’t keep My words, - no faith, no hope, no love
God will not disclose Himself to the world
Jesus and the HS are One, as Jesus and the Father are One
The Life – John 14:25-29 (Love) Fellowship 1 John 1:3
Death is separation from God, Life is communion with God, indwelling of HS.
Vs. 25-26 The HS will teach and remind you – disclose to you, Nothing new John 16:14
Vs. 27 Peace – insight to the word, Matthew 18:20; 10:27-28
Vs. 28 If you loved Me – still learning to trust His Word. They still have to grow.
Vs. 29 Told you before it happens, so you may believe.
Power of prophecy is in its fulfillment.
Vs. 30 Jesus has arranged for His death, especially at this time John 13:27
The ruler of this world, Satan thinks he is in control.
Has nothing in Me – John 18:38; Isaiah 53:9
The Father has sent Me – we are One – I came to teach you the way, the truth and the life. FHL
I must go but I am sending the HS – we are One – He will disclose to you, FHL for He is just like Me.
Fear not, I go away but we will come F.S. HS and abide with you, you are not forsaken.
God is not beyond the stars – God is deep in your heart. You are not alone, be encouraged by John 14
