John – Pay close attention to the details! Insights are found in the Details
Jn.1:39- Where are you staying? Come and you will see. We have found the Messiah. What do people learn about God if they spend the day with you?
Jn.2:6 - Six stone waterpots, for Jewish custom of purification, clean outside not inside. Can you change water into wine – OT into living word.
Jn.3:5 - Unless you are begotten of water and the Spirit, cannot enter, Aha moment, 1 John 5:8
Jn.4:7 - Give Me a drink – But I am a Samaritan woman? Jesus gives living water.
Jn.20:7 - Face cloth rolled up, a place by itself, who rolled it up. God will takes care of the details in your life as well, just believe.
John 21 – Watch for the Details
Vs. 1: Tiberias – 6:1; 23; 21:1; good vision; Galilee – rolling, hills, country, boon docks derogatory.
Vs.2,3: 7 disciples – that night, fishing in the dark, left the light, 1 John 1:5-7; Told Matthew 28:10,16
Vs. 4: 3x calls them from fishing Matthew 4:18-22; then Luke 5:3-11; now John 21:1ff 3x He teaches them to fish, Luke 5; let down your nets, Matthew 17:24drachma tax; now here
Vs. 5: Children – 3 stages of spiritual growth – 1 John 2:12-14
Vs. 6: Right hand side – what’s the difference – do you question God – gopher wood
Vs. 7: Peter threw himself into the sea – Jonah 1:15they threw Jonah into the sea
Vs.8 The little boat – with 6 disciples in it dragging the net
Vs.9,10: Charcoal fire – evidence for writer to be there. “Bring the fish!” Finish the job, don’t waste miracle, Mark 6:52count your blessings
Vs. 11: Full of large fish, don’t baptize minnows; “157”, # of the church, (google) Net wasn’t torn John 15:5
Vs.12-13: 3x miraculous feeding – 5,000, 4,000 John 6:11
Vs. 14: 3rd time manifested – to the disciples, not including Mary, 2 on road.
