Vs.1-2
Tell the sons of Israel to bring you an unblemished Red Heifer, no defect, no yoke
Red Heifer represents Christ – no manmade yoke Mt.11:30See Ex.12:05
Caiaphas gives order Jn.12:49-53; Judas has plan Mk.14:10-11; Jesus arrested Mk.14:43;
Brought to Moses & Aaron - Annas and Caiaphas Jn.18:13,24;
Vs.3
Given to Eleazor, the chief priests (Sanhedrin) Mt.27:1-2; delivered Him to Pilate
Pilate sentenced Him to be crucified, outside Jerusalem, Mt.27:32; Heb.13:12-13;
Slaughtered in the presence of the chief priests Mt.27:41;
Vs.4
Sprinkle some blood 7x toward tent of meeting – Mt.27:51;
Vs.5
The heifer shall be totally burned Lk.12:50; No carcass left over Ex.12:10; Ascension Ac.1:9; Mk.10:38-39;
Vs.6
The priest shall add to the fire – 3 things:
1.Cedar Wood – represents the cross – SoS.3:9; Jn.3:14-15; Num.21:6-9;
2. Hyssop – how the blood was sprinkled to establish the covenant, Heb.9:19-22;
New covenant, new hyssop – 1Pe.1:2; 1Jn.1:6-9; Jn.13:6-10;
3. Scarlet String – Lev.14:6; Blood Line – Gen.38:28; Jos.2:18; SoS.4:3; 1Pe.2:9;
Blood line – Mt.1:1f Lk.3:23; King of Kings, Alpha and Omega 3x in Rev
Vs.7
The Priest is unclean (Jews) Vs.8 One who burns it (Gentiles) unclean
Wash his clothes – Repent Need to repent be baptized
Bath in water - Baptized
Unclean until evening 1Jn.1:8-9;
Vs.8-9
The one who gathers the ashes, though clean becomes unclean, Lk.23:50-53;
Must wash his clothes - repent and be baptized.
Vs.17
Ashes and flowing water – added together in a vessel – Jn.:1-12; water to wine.
Water is word of God + Ashes is HS = Living Word of God Jn.7:39;
Vs.18
A clean person – a Christian – one with the indwelling of the HS
Take Hyssop – new covenant, word of God – Heb.8:8-9;
Sprinkle it on the unclean on the 3rd day – Jn.3:1f Born again. Convicted
Sprinkle again on the 7th day – time to count the cost, Lk.14:25f
Wash their clothes repent and wash their bodies - be baptized. Ac.2:38;
Lost in the dark – Days 3 Convicted by HS - Count the cost – Day 4 make the commitment.
