Chapter 1 – Seeking God by trusting in His Word – Song of Solomon 1:1-7

1.  The Song of Songs which is Solomon’s
Solomon = Peace;   Solomon is king.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6
Jesus is the King of Kings Revelation 19:16

2. BRIDE - May He kiss me with the kisses of His mouth
Bride – People seeking to have a relationship with God, represents the church or the individual, make it personal you’re the bride. 
Proverbs 27:6; Romans 16:16; 1 Peter 5:14
 
2.  May He kiss me with the kisses of His mouth
She wants the truth directly from Him
Not like Jews Exodus 20:19; “Speak to us yourself...”
Just like people today, “You interpret for us.”
Acts 17:11-12
 
2.  For Your love is better than wine
Only AGAPA is used in Song of Solomon in the Greek OT
Why not use EROS? It is not about physical love!
AGAPA - seeking the best for another expecting nothing in return
 
2.  For Your love is better than wine:

3.  Your oils have a pleasing fragrance.

3.  Your name is purified oil.

3.  Therefore the maidens love You.
The maidens - young, unmarried girls. Innocence
Maidens = chorus = the daughters of Jerusalem

4. CHORUS - We will rejoice IN you and be glad. We will extol your love more than wine.

5. BRIDE – I am black but lovely.
Black - stained with sin
 
5.  But lovely - Fitting, proper – true hearted.

5.  Like the tents of Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon –
Look past outside – focus on the inside
1 Timothy 2:9
   
6.  For the sun has burned me –

Veil = submitting; Companions = associates (Pharisees)

The KING and the SHEPHERD – is CHRIST
The BRIDE represents individuals seeking for God
She is not content with man made churches or synagogues.
