Sterlin Harjo's Mekko is not quite what the log line sells, but if you buy the ticket, you gotta take the ride. One part Documentary, one par Narrative Film, Mekko follows the journey of an ex-con into the homeless community of Tulsa OK. The immersive visuals of this film are as stimulating as they are, at times, unsettling, inviting the audience to tag along with Mekko as things spin out of control. It also provides a harrowing glimpse into the hardships facing the homeless community, while making a powerful statement about addiction, mental illness, and redemption.
