Hip-hip hoorah! The all-powerful Cinemondo beings venture down to the planet of General Trelane (retired), the Squire of Gothos for an unexpectedly unsettling episode where the Enterprise crew encounters a malevolent being they can’t beat! They’re stumped! What do you do when you’re up against someone who seems to have unlimited super-powers and a certain type of derangement that manifests as a bizarre hybrid of narcissism and sadism? What is Trelane’s deal? Is there any way to stop him? This is one of the classic episodes of the original series, and may have inspired characters and plot lines from later Star Trek incarnations. It’s a familiar trope but done with an unnerving flair, mostly thanks to the fun performance by guest start William Campbell.
