Preamble
Many leaders today engage in toxic rivalry with peers that do not glorify God. The intense rivalry comes from either inferiority or superiority complex. A feeling that I am ‘better than’ (pride & prejudice) is a negation of the intent of servant leadership. When such feelings are allowed to reign, it is difficult to evolve an authentic leadership style.
Questions:
How do we lead across (lead peers)?
What are the practices of leading across organisations?
Authentic leaders must lead across with practices that are not limited to taking a genuine interest in peers (1), complementing the efforts of peers (2), being a friend to peers (3), avoiding office/mission politics (4), expanding our circle of influence (5), allowing the best ideas to win (6), and shunning pretence aimed at gaining an advantage over others (7). To lead like Jesus, we must have credibility with God and man.
