The faith of Abraham must once again be tested. God commanded Abraham to offer his son Issaac as a burnt offering. This command came without explanation. It is a severe test beyond description. As our faith grows, so to must the severity of the test.
Now in this we have a beautiful picture of the gospel. We see Abraham the father offering up his only son as a sacrifice. The details of this account are many. They all clearly point us to Calvary.
There is also personal application. Abraham was being commanded to sacrifice that which he loved the most. The challenge we face; are we willing to put to death the things we love the most in order to truly know and live for God?
