In this study we were presented with several challenges. Do we have the mind of Christ? Are we willing to live in obedience as Christ did? Obedience to the point of death! Is the work that Jesus accomplished on the cross central in our daily walk with Him? Great and important questions. Our response to these questions will have great impact on our growth in Christ and our effectiveness for the kingdom of God.
We also took time to look deeply into the doctrine of atonement. Atonement is so simple to understand and yet so critical to our walk with Jesus. Atonement means to make reconciliation. All of humanity has a burden of sin that none are capable of paying. Jesus fulfilled the law of God perfectly. Jesus alone was able to offer Himself as the satisfactory payment for our sin. This was accomplished once and for all at Calvary, at the cross.
The Bible tells us in I John 2:2 that Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins and not for our sin only but for the sin of the whole world.
How incredible it is to be washed in the blood of the Lamb. To be a new creation in Christ. To know that we are looking forward to a city whose builder and maker is God.
Maranatha, come quickly Lord Jesus!
