We now begin a study in the book of Jonah. When we come to this little book, most think of Jonah and the whale. How amazing that a man could be swallowed by a whale and then three days later be vomited out on to dry land alive. But Jonah is about much more than a whale.
In Jonah we will see the love of God for all of humanity. God was sending Jonah to the worst people imaginable. Their actions were horrific at best and yet God loved them. He commanded Jonah to go to them.
We will also see the sovereignty of God on full display as Jonah's disobedience and attitude are corrected. God had control over the storm. He had control over the whale. And He had control over Jonah's life.
Finally, we will learn the horror of indifference. How we are all capable of indifference towards a lost and dying world.
A book filled with great lessons for us all.
