Joey grew up not feeling loved by some family members of the family that adopted him. After some series of abuse he experienced in their hands, he ran away. His ways thwarted when became one of the members of the notorious Sige-Sige Sputnik Gang in Tondo. Joey became an alcoholic and a trouble maker. Until one night, he heard an audible voice inviting him to attend the bible study of a Christian group he first criticized and cursed.
