The holiday of Juneteenth is relatively new to many of us as it just became a federally recognized holiday in 2021. Before that many of us had never even heard of Juneteenth; now it's all over the place. The conservative impulse is to reject anything new whereas the progressive impulse is to accept anything that is new. Maybe wisdom should evaluate each new thing and either discard it or accept it.
With Juneteenth there may be some legitimate spiritual analogies we can focus on to help us, as Christians, to relate to the message of Juneteenth. Issues of slavery, freedom, and most importantly the knowledge that we ARE free.
