What is the difference between Toxic Positivity and Eternal Optimism?
Toxic positivity is just that...toxic. Sweeping emotions and situations under a rug with statements like, "It's all good, and I'm fine," is dismissing your feelings and everyone else's around you. Band-aids can only hold on for so long. Eventually you will need to learn how to navigate emotions and know that it's OK to feel all the things AND release the negative one's too. This is where your Eternal Optimist steps up to the plate! The belief that things are good, people are good, and life is good will serve you well in the storms. Being an eternal optimist means holding onto HOPE, knowing that JOY is a choice, that LOVE will win. The "EO" will tell you that LIFE is going to be difficult at times, but there is a bright side to the dark, always. It's a peaceful place where you deal with the waves as they crash into the shore, and you are still able to see the horizon in the distance. The belief system that Happiness is a choice.
